Tasty Raid Anniversary 2026 for more legendary Queer debauchery and dance - commemorating the 1994 August 7 Victoria Police raid on Melbourne/Naarm’s beloved Queer party haven, Tasty nightclub - Saturday 8th August from 9pm to 7am.
This milestone in Melbourne/Naarm Queer history is now celebrated annually at Inflation Nightclub, another of the city's iconic, underground clubbing institutions.
Tasty 2026 marks 32 years since the notorious Tasty Raid, when 467 patrons were unjustly strip-searched by police. The raid, later deemed unlawful, garnered international outrage and became a pivotal moment in Australia's LGBTQI+ history, often referred to as our own Stonewall moment.
The ensuing rebellion, sparked by homophobic police action, triggered legal battles and new beginnings for our gay rights movement and activism. We now celebrate every August, to remember. To foster LGBTQI+ awareness and empowerment. To ensure that this may never happen again!
